HOW TO DISPOSE OF PRESCRIPTIONS, MEDICINE & OVER-THE-COUNTER DRUGS

Operation Medicine Cabinet

In response to a growing demand for a safe and convenient way to dispose of household medications, your local Police and Sheriff departments, and the SLO County IWMA have teamed up to provide drop-boxes at each local City Police Department and three Sheriff Patrol Stations in San Luis Obispo County.

Residents of San Luis Obispo County can bring all types of unwanted medications, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs for FREE disposal.

PLEASE NO BUSINESSES!


What sort of medicines and over-the-counter products can I drop off?

   These items are accepted:    These items are NOT accepted:
  • Over-the-counter medications
     
  • Prescription medications


 

  • Medication samples
  • No theromometers
  • Medications for household pets

     
  • No personal care products (non-medicated shampoo, soaps, perfume, etc.)
  • Medicated lotions or ointments
  • No trash
 
  • No mail
 
  • No lost and found materials
 
  • No empty containers
 
  • No pharmaceuticals from business/professionals
 
  • Not available for businesses

The following locations will accept unwanted household medication throughout San Luis Obispo County.

Arroyo Grande - 200 N. Halcyon Road

Atascadero - 5505 El Camino Real

Morro Bay - 850 Morro Bay Boulevard

Paso Robles - 900 Park Street

Pismo Beach - 1000 Bello Street

San Luis Obispo - 1042 Walnut Street

Templeton - 356 North Main Street
