BATTERIES ARE TOO TOXIC TO TRASH!

Thank you for doing your part in ensuring waste collection workers are safe and hazard-free! When batteries are disposed of in curbside trash and recycling bins, the risk of fire increases dramatically. Did you know that SLO County waste haulers had THREE truck fires due to lithium-ion batteries in just three weeks? Thankfully, everyone is okay! Batteries also contain toxic metals and corrosive materials that contimate the environment when not properly processed. That's why, here in SLO County, we have programs to help you easily dispose of batteries - the right way!
