Summer is here! Now is a perfect time to think of activities to fill the day. The IWMA has launched a Recycling Ambassadors program, perfect for anyone looking to get out into the community, get some service hours, and educate their neighbors on recycling. 

Our ambassadors work at events across the county to educate attendees on ways that they can sort their waste correctly at events, leading to lower contamination and better diversion rates of recyclables and food waste. Ambassadors are treated to a sustainability gift basket with items that promote reuse and refill practices, as well as an awesome Recycling Ambassador exclusive t-shirt! 

Many event organizers also provide either meal tickets or free entry to events after volunteer shifts have been completed, allowing our volunteers access to some of the more exclusive events across SLO County. Check out our list below for our upcoming events! 

Central Coast Renaissance Festival- The Ambassadors will be helping out at the Renaissance Festival on July 18th and 19th, 2026. 

The Avocado and Margarita Festival- Located in Morro Bay, the Avocado and Margarita Festival is happening September 12th, 2026!
