Trash to Treasure 2025

Fall Clean-Up week is coming up for the communities of Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach, and the IWMA is excited to launch a new program to help redistribute landfill-bound items to community members.

Trash to Treasure is a free, interactive map where residents can post items they no longer want ("treasure"), and treasure hunters can follow the map to claim items!

Posting Treasure

During the posting window of Tuesday, October 14th - Friday, October 17th, residents of Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach can post "Treasure" on our interactive Treasure Map: https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/dbaf0eb6b1eb4fa487af6c18d14d22a3/  Then, place your treasure on the curb at 7 AM Saturday morning, so treasure hunters can find it!

DO post: Clean, still functional items that you no longer want, such as furniture, bikes, home decor, yard items, etc.

DON'T post: Household trash, hazardous waste, construction debris.

If your items remain unclaimed through the weekend, call Waste Connections at (805) 543-0875 to set up a special item pick-up during your trash day, taking place on your normal service day during the week of Oct. 20th-24th. Restrictions and fees may apply, call Waste Connections for more details. You can also take unclaimed items to a local thrift store! Do not leave items on your curb after the event, instead, please bring them in until you have scheduled a pick-up.

This program is only limited to Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach at this time, please only post treasure if you live in these two cities. Interested in Trash to Treasure coming to your community? Let us know!

Claiming Treasure

During the event on Saturday, October 18th and Sunday, October 19th, from 7AM to 8PM, treasure hunters can use the interactive map to find items that they want to pick-up. After you've picked up an item, make sure to let us know by emailing our team the unique Reference ID for that posting. If you notice an item is no longer there, please let us know as well!   Click here to claim treasure!

Treasure hunters, please only take treasure posted to the website! Please do not go into yards, driveways, garages, etc. to take personal belongings. Only items placed curbside as part of the program are eligible.
